An intimate evening with one of Scotland's finest
songwriter with Phil Kane on piano (The Silencers) and
Greame Duffin on guitar (Wet, Wet, Wet).
JJ first came to most peoples attention when he joined the
successful Scottish band The Silencers as front man. His velvet
coated voice made him an instant hit with the bands fans.
His first solo album Sunnyside P.A.L appeared in 2002 to much
critical acclaim and proved him to be a songwriter of real standing.
The album led to a world tour as well as sharing a stage with the likes
of Kenny Rogers, Bob Geldof, Steven Segal and Benny Gallagher. The album
was a heartfelt tribute to his best friend who died of cancer and was a
celebration of positivity and a fitting honour to his memory
Problems with his record label and publishing company saw a dark
period in JJ's career. Finding hiself stuck in a limbo, fans had to
wait till 2009 before they got a new album. The Boy Who Didn't Fall
was well worth the wait. Produced by the team behind Wet' Wet, Wet's biggest
hit, the album features a whose who of talented Scottish musician, a testiment
to the esteem that Jinky is held in.
The musical about the life of George Best that JJ wrote with Pat Gribben,
Martyn Lynch and Marie Jones called Dancing Shoes (named
after one of JJ's songs) starts its month long sell out run at Belfast's famous
Grand Opera House at the end of July.
